» Network Email problem between laptop and desktop.

We have an IBM ThinkPad TransNote with Windows 2000 professional and Outlook 6.0. A desktop 466 Mhz processor with Windows 98 and Outlook 6.0. The laptop serves as the server for Internet/email connections. For some time we have been able to network the two with one line, one account. Both CAN NOW, surf the Internet and download emails. The laptop can send emails and the Desktop USED TO SEND EMAILS. The Desktop if connected just itself alone, directly thru an external modem, CAN send emails. When connected thru the laptop, it cannot send emails. We have checked options, sharing, etc. and nothing works for the Desktop to send emails THROUGH the laptop. What can we do to correct this problem?Hello: When you say "send emails THROUGH ...... - 2008-11-15

» telephone directory on internet

Please give me the address of a simple internet resource that works exactly like the telephone book's white and yellow pages and provides answers without the intrusion of other material.mister2u-ga - Thanks for your reply. I tested the "www.411.com" site and it was bad news. In order to ensure that they were reasonably reliable I searched for a few - doctors etc - that I KNEW were in the book and found, even after clearing the clutter of advertisers, that I could not readily identify my target. I then made it really simple with a name I had on a bill right before me "Park Avenue Liquor Shop" - and entered "Park Ave Wine" New York, NY - nobody home. I then tried Park Ave Liquor - still lots of others (advertisers?) with names that ha...... - 2008-11-15

» What are some common approaches to web design pricing?

I am looking to get an idea of how small web design companies price their services, so I can get a better feel for how to price my own. So I'd say my question is: What are some common approaches to pricing? Ideally, I'd like a bunch of examples, split into various categories (something like: subscription-based, hourly, per-project).You may want to search Google Answers, as I believe there have been a number of questions along these lines over the last several years. I answered a similar (but different) question a while back, though it was from the other point of view (i.e. how much it would cost to build a web site for someone who wanted it built, not the methods and prices to charge from the point of view of the builder)....... - 2008-11-15

Where can I download audio files, of the organ music sound effects used at NBA games to excite the crowd? The type of sound effects I am looking for are/were used at Madison Square Garden for the NY Knicks games. They are typically played when the home team is building an offensive play. One of the themes I am searching for has these notes played on the organ: G, D, E, F#, G, D, E, F#, G (faster and faster etc). I am also searching for a crowd continually chanting "DEFENCE!" to a drum-beat.revised list of notes which are played: G, D, E, F#, G, D, E, F#, D, G^8, B^8, D^8, B^8, D^8 (^8 = go to the octave above) The aim is to download this music onto a portable mp3 player, and play it at a social game of basketball, for fun.I be...... - 2008-11-15

» Flu vaccine economics - I need this answered by 10 am PDT on Tuesday, 10/19.

I need a report(s) or data assembled within the past couple of years that the examines the percentage of the flu vaccine purchased by the government (versus the private sector) over the years, and the price paid for that vaccine. This information must provide evidence that either supports or refutes the notion that govt. involvement in bulk purchasing drives down the price of flu vaccine to the point that flu vaccine manufacture is discouraged. I need this answered by 10 am PDT on Tuesday, 10/19.This site suggests that companies don't produce the vaccine because it is financially risky. Public interest in the flu varries greatly year to year and if a company can't sell their product they lose alot of money. The suggestio...... - 2008-11-15

» NYS Liability Insurance Question

Greetings: I've incorporated a PC consulting business (S-corp) in NY state. I visit homes and businesses and fix their computers. One of my clients is a growing IT firm - they have sent me to service their clients - I am, in effect, a subcontractor. After several months of servicing their clients, they called me asking for a certificate of liability insurance. I said I had none. I have no idea if this will affect my ability to continue getting work from them, but even if it's not de rigeur, I would think it's a good idea. So the questions are: 1. Should I get personal or business liability or both? 2. In New York state, who can I go to for either type or both? 3. Please find some insurers th...... - 2008-11-15

» Any class-action lawsuits against Rooms-To-Go?

Rooms-to-go is a US nationwide retailer of furniture. A friend's sofa, purchased from Rooms-to-go lasted just over one year under normal use. Unfortunately, the warranty was only for one year. My friend seemed to believe that the sofa was defective, because of the material used for the stuffing, and other factors. I explained to my friend that small claims court would be a big hassle, and he would probably lose because it had been over a year. In any event, the damages could be only $200-$300 or so. From PlanetFeedback.com, I learned that many customers were unhappy with Rooms-To-Go over poor customer service, defective workmanship, and delivery of damaged "new" furniture. It occurred to me that this kind of behav...... - 2008-11-15

While waiting for a new version of this excellent software, here is a simple fix for those in need of a quieter browsing :-) This modification involves patching the ADBLOCK.dll file found on the Outpost .\Kernel folder This only works on file version 1.0.242.0 A similar patch can, probably, be designed for other versions. Although this was tested on the FREE version of Outpost, chances are that it will work also on the Pro version. 1. goto the Outpost\Kernel folder and make a backup copy of the ADBLOCK.dll file. 2. start your favorite hex editor or grab frhed at http://www.kibria.de/frhed.html and open the ADBLOCK.dll file in it 3. change the following two bytes: byte 0xd8, change from 0x49 to 0x2a byte 0x474, change fr...... - 2008-11-15

Chess is a finite game - the 50 move rule and the 3 repeating positions rule mean that no game can go on forever (in fact the maximum game is something under 6000 moves I think?). Therefore there are a finite number of distinct possible games (a distinct game being characterised by a distinct sequence of moves). However this is clearly a very big number :). I want to find the smallest upper bound of this number. In a book by Hardy he claims in a footnote that this number is around 10^(10^50) - however I'm sure this is far too big!
